George Payne has been a traditional family butcher for over 40 years, establishing his own shop in Brunton Park, Gosforth, in 1987. The business celebrated its landmark 25th anniversary in 2012.
The shop is renowned near and far for sourcing locally fed and reared meat products - notably rare breeds beef, lamb and pork - through long-established gate-to-plate partnerships with Northumberland farmers.
From these, George and his team devotedly and expertly create a vast range of hand-crafted products – from award-winning sausages, burgers, home-cured and smoked bacons and hams, through to succulent roasts and mouthwatering steaks, along with British birds of a feather, many free-range, and a full range of game.

George Payne Butchers sizzles in BBQ contest
George Payne Butchers put on a sizzling performance when chosen as north-east regional beef burger champion in the Butchers Q Guild annual BBQ competition.
Payne’s won the title with its mini steak burger, which contains 90% lean meat with a blend of spices.
George Payne Butchers is a founder member of the Q Guild, which represents 110 elite butchers from the Scottish Highlands to Cornwall.
The 2014 BBQ season is now getting into full swing, with Q Guild butchers across the nation, George Payne among them, geared up to supply the full range of summer barbecue products - with a little help from the weather!
